| Counseling & Recovery Give an Hour: free counseling services for OEF/OIF veterans and family members. Give an Hour is a national network of mental health professionals who can provide mental health counseling over the phone or in person, to veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. To access counseling services, go the the Given an Hour website, then click on the For Visitors link. VOCAL The Virginia Organization of Consumers Asserting Leadership (VOCAL) is a statewide nonprofit organization of people in mental health recovery. The mission of VOCAL is to strengthen the mental health system in Virginia by creating alternatives and complements to services currently available. MHAV Mental Health America, Virginia (MHAV), is a thoughtful voice of reason. MHAV advocates for public and private sector services and financing to ensure adequate and appropriate detection, treatment, housing, and rehabilitation programs. Teaming with consumers, families of consumers, mental health professionals, providers and the public we ensure that the members of the Virginia General Assembly and members of Virginia’s Congressional delegation are aware of the concerns and needs of people with mental illness. NAMI The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Virginia was created in 1985 to provide support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families in Virginia affected by mental illness. NAMI Virginia provides support, education, and advocacy. We are not a direct service provider but we do provide education and support, and also information and resources through our toll-free statewide HelpLine. NAMI Virginia is located in Richmond, Virginia, where we are appropriately situated in close proximity to the state legislature. |

| PTSD Recovery and Support Solider's Heart: Our goal is to alleviate the symptoms of PTSD by developing a new and honorable warrior identity through storytelling, purification, community forgiveness and healing, and restitution as outlined in Edward Tick's War and the Soul. In addition, we promote, train, and guide military, professional and community-based efforts to heal the effects of war. |

| Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injury: The Journey Home This site provides an informative and sensitive exploration of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), including information for patients, family members, and caregivers. Topics include types and symptoms of brain injury, TBI treatment and recovery, and helpful insights about the potential long-term effects of brain injury. Animation is used to help patients clearly understand the brain, and the results of injuries to different parts of the brain. Survivors and their care- givers share courageous stories about their own experiences, providing down-to-earth facts along with inspiration and hope. |
